Dufty: Homelessness won’t be solved” San Francisco

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Student Commissioner on the California Advisory Commission on Special Education (ACSE), for the term of July 1, 2013−June 30, 2015. The ACSE is an advisory body providing recommendations and advice to the State Board of Education, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Legislature, and the Governor in new or continuing areas of research and program development and evaluation in California special education. Applicants must currently be enrolled in a K−12 curriculum and receiving special education and/or related services. Student commissioners are non-voting members and must be able to participate in up to six meetings annually held in Sacramento, California. Student commissioners serve without compensation, although actual and necessary expenses, including travel expenses, are reimbursable.

Applications from students with disabilities of all ages are encouraged to apply, especially those with leadership training including alumni of the California Youth Leadership Forum.
